1880 Bitter

1880 was the year the Sandymount property title was drawn up. William Larnach shaved off a parcel of land belonging to his larger estate and transferred it to James Jackson. The beginning of an early chapter of the land the distillery sits on now.

Sandymount’s 1880 Bitter is rich, with complex relationships between the dense warmth of cardamom and garden herbs, the bright bitterness of burnt orange peel, and the earthiness of artichoke, wormwood and fennel.

1880 Bitter mixed with Red Marker Sweet Vermouth and Woodcutter Barrel Aged Gin makes an intrinsically New Zealand negroni.

The distillery’s relationship with the land is new, and there’s a lot of history still to be explored so the Sandymount can respect the richness and complexity of that history.
